The Global AI Hackathon 2025 is a free, virtual event hosted by MIT RAISE and the App Inventor Foundation, aiming to inspire individuals worldwide to develop AI applications that address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals serve as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
Participants are encouraged to use MIT App Inventor, a user-friendly platform, to create innovative solutions that demonstrate creativity, social impact, design thinking, and technical proficiency. The hackathon is open to all ages, with categories for youth individuals, youth teams, adult individuals, and all-ages teams.
The competition timeline is as follows:
Registration Opens: March 3, 2025
Submissions Open: March 17, 2025sui.io
Submission Deadline: April 14, 2025
Winners Announced: Mid-May 2025
Winners from each category will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to present their projects at the MIT AI & Education Summit in Cambridge, Massachusetts, scheduled for July 16-18, 2025.
To prepare for the hackathon, participants can utilize resources from the Day of AI initiative, which offers educational materials on artificial intelligence. Additionally, exploring past projects and engaging with the MIT App Inventor community can provide valuable insights and inspiration.
